The Future of Israel: A Christian Vision of Shalom
Shalom, We Are Praying You're Well!
We are moving into the end of 2024, and the war between Israel, Palestine, Iran, and other surrounding nations is continuing to take many innocent lives. At the same time, we have been blessed to be able to continue gifting out the Word of God to Jewish people both here in Canada, and in the Holy Land!
We are so encouraged by young Christians who are both a part of gen-z, and a part of the lasting remnant of those who recognize and support Israel as God's chosen people. So with this in mind, we look to the future, because for Christians, we see Israel as integral to both our faith and the unfolding of Biblical prophecy.
The journey of Israel, from its ancient biblical roots to its modern-day regathering as a nation, is nothing short of a precious miracle. As we look ahead, it’s crucial for us Christians to consider how we can continue to support Israel in the years to come, and we must emphasize a biblical understanding and a heart for God’s people!
1. Biblical Promises and Prophetic Fulfillment 🙏
Israel's future is uniquely linked to the promises God made to the patriarchs—Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. These promises include the land of Israel, the nation’s preservation, and its ultimate redemption. The prophetic scriptures, particularly in books like Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel, speak of a time when God will gather His people from the four corners of the earth and establish them in their land in peace and prosperity.
As Christians, we believe that many of these prophecies are being fulfilled in our time. The rebirth of the state of Israel in 1948, the return of Jews from the diaspora, and the blossoming of the land are all seen as direct fulfillment of biblical prophecy. However, we also recognize that Israel’s journey is not yet complete. There are still challenges ahead, both politically and spiritually, that will require the continued support and prayer of the global Christian community.
"He will raise a signal for the nations and will assemble the banished of Israel, and gather the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth." - Isaiah 11:12
2. Challenges Facing Israel 🫅🏻
Israel is currently numerous challenges that will shape its future. These include ongoing security threats from hostile neighbours, especially in light of the vicious attacks that have been taking place since Oct. 7, 2023.
There are also internal divisions among its diverse population, and the growing complexities of Israeli-Palestinian relations, and Israel's global image is often under scrutiny, with rising anti-Semitism and efforts to delegitimize the nation on the international stage.
For Christians, we should see these challenges as a call to action. Our silence is complacency.
We must be informed and engaged, advocating for Israel's right to exist and defend itself, while also promoting peace and justice in the region. It is vital to support initiatives that foster coexistence and mutual understanding between Jews and Arabs, both within Israel and in the broader Middle East.
3. Spiritual Awakening and Revival 🙌
Beyond the political and social dimensions, the future of Israel holds profound spiritual significance. We believe that Israel is central to God’s redemptive plan for the world. The Apostle Paul, in Romans 11, speaks of a time when "all Israel will be saved," pointing to a future spiritual awakening among the Jewish people.
This anticipated revival should inspire Christians to pray earnestly for Israel, not just for its physical protection, but for the spiritual renewal that will lead to a deeper recognition of God’s promises. Supporting ministries that engage in respectful dialogue and share the love of Christ with Jewish communities can be an important part of this vision, always keeping in mind the shared heritage and respect for Jewish identity.
4. A Call for Christian Advocacy 💪🏻
As we look to the future, Christians have a unique role to play in standing with Israel. This support goes beyond political advocacy—it’s about fostering a deep, compassionate understanding of Israel’s place in God’s plan. Whether it’s through prayer, supporting Israel’s right to security, or engaging in interfaith dialogue, Christians can be a powerful voice in the global conversation about Israel’s future.
It’s also crucial to educate the next generation of Christians about the importance of Israel, ensuring that this support continues long into the future. Churches, Christian schools, and ministries can play a pivotal role in teaching about Israel’s biblical significance and encouraging practical ways to support the nation and its people.
5. The Vision of Shalom: Peace and Wholeness 🏄🏼
At the heart of a Christian vision for Israel's future is the biblical concept of Shalom—a Hebrew word that means peace, but also encompasses wholeness, completeness, and well-being.
This vision of Shalom is not just for Israel but for the entire world. The prophets speak of a time when nations will "beat their swords into plowshares" and when Jerusalem will be a house of prayer for all people.
Christians are called to pray and work toward this vision of Shalom, advocating for peace in the Middle East and supporting initiatives that promote reconciliation and understanding. This vision is not just about the absence of conflict, but about the presence of God’s peace, justice, and righteousness.
6. Conclusion: Partnering with God in Israel's Future 🌍
The future of Israel is a story still being written, and as Christians, we have the privilege of partnering with God in this unfolding narrative. Whether through prayer, advocacy, or tangible support, our role is to stand with Israel, trusting in God’s promises and working toward the fulfillment of His purposes.
In doing so, we are not only blessing Israel but also aligning ourselves with God’s heart for the nations. As we look to the future, may we continue to uphold Israel with unwavering faith, love, and commitment, knowing that in blessing Israel, we are participating in the greater story of God’s redemptive plan for the world.
